steering wheel vibration @ 2K RPM (light buzz in fingers)

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Car: 2010 EX35 AWD Journey

Post

Hi, I am new to the forum. I purchased a used 2010 EX35 AWD Journey a few months ago with 30K miles.

The vehicle has a high frequency vibration in the steering wheel (feel a light buzz in fingers) in the 2000 RPM range. Sometimes can the feel vibration under floor board also.

Situation:
RPM: 1800-2000 RPM range
Speed: 40 mph range and 60 mph range (4th and 5th gear respectively I believe)
Gas pedal: steady state - (slight) depression (like 1/8 throttle)
Gear: low RPM range of particular gear it is in
Occurs 100% of the time with the above conditions.

Result:
- high frequency vibration in steering wheel
- (feel a light buzz in fingers)
- Sometimes can feel vibration under feet from the floor board

Does not occur when:
- Aggressively accelerating (passing)
- Coasting (at any speed) with no gas pedal depression

Discount Tire rebalanced and rotated tires twice on 12/16/14 and 1/2/15:
No improvement

Infiniti delaer #1 performed the following on 12/22/14:
- Updated Engine software to latest available
No improvement.
- Guessing exhaust resonance?

Infiniti dealer #2 inspected on 1/2/15:
- inspected tires, U-joints/drive shaft, transmission fluid level, and found all to be in good shape.
- said have seen some vibration in other EX35s. Vibration characteristic of vehicle. No fix suggestions.

If effect, both dealers said there was nothing they could do to fix or allieviate the vibration in steering at 2K RPM.

Anyone had this issue and found a creative way to minimize or eliminate this vibration at the 2K RPM range?

Thank you very much!

Jim
