my cruise control miraculously stopped working yesterday. and well it was having problems before where i had to push the steering wheel kinda inwards towards the dash and then press the "set" button in order for the cruise to come on. and i noticed when i turn the wheel theres a grinding sort of noise. i drive on the highway a lot about 30 mins each way to and from school so i LOVE cruise control. anyway, my question is how hard is it to get a 240sx steering wheel off?? am i going to need special tools? once i get it off can i get it back on easy? i've heard of guys with other cars having problems taking it off, then they lost springs, etc. i don't want to possibly screw shyt up, and i'd hate to take it to the dealer for something seemingly simple. i've done almost everything myself on that car cept the transmission rebuild. it'd be nice to hear from someone who's removed the steering wheel on a 240 before.

importnut has a writeup on this.you'll need a safety T50 torx and 19mm socket, probably philips and a beer.

Where does the T50 Torx come into play? I ditched my stocker for an after market and all i did was remove the 19mm nut and pull like a mofo. This was for an '89 S13 (no cruise either). HeHe...maybe i wouldn't have had to pull so hard if i knew there was another bolt in there somewhere....

If your going to put your stocker back on, i'd mark the position on the spline with a Sharpie or something. Otherwise you might have to pull it off and on a few times to get it lined back up correctly. I had to do it about five times, very annoying.

lol i took out my cruise control on my s13. The ASCD control unit, the blue fuse, the vacum pump and the unit and throttle pulley, etc... AND the cruise control on and off button.. i wana remove all the stuff from the steering as well.. AND i want to remove all the associated wiring in the harness as well too :P

Cruise control snooze control, be a man and control your foot :P + save in marginal small weight and space under hood and in car :P
