ok here is the story...

i have some aftermarket 20s on my 08 g37 coupe....

drove fine until 2 weeks ago when infiniti dealer did my brakes... couldnt drive over 40 mph the steering wheel shook so bad...

they told me to take it back to the place i got the rims from and have them rebalanced... i did that... it made it a little better...

took it back to the place again the next day to have them doublecheck everything bc it still drove like shxt... he told me to take it back to infiniti dealership...

did that the next day (which was saturday), and infiniti tells me i have to come back monday to talk to the manager bc they didn't wanna touch my aftermarket wheels...

i came back monday and they did every single test possible including taking all my wheels off and putting some stock ones on... drove fine with the stock rims... they eventually concluded that i had a tire splitting...

so the place i got the rims from gave me a new tire under warranty.... it does drive better, and it IS driveable on the highway now, but the steering wheel still shakes...

any insight??

im tired of this crap... bout to sell the rims, then the car

Steering wheel should not shake...it's not the car man! I'd have a different shop, like discount tire, do a load balance. You also might want to have an alignment done to rule out anything else.

Are you using hubcentric mounting rings? Spacers?

Do they fit? The only time I have ever dealt with shaking has been with the following:
- Bent rims
- Tires with twisted belts
- Using aftermarket rims without hubcentric rings

I'd validate the rigs are the proper size so they properly fit the Infiniti hubs and are sized big enough to properly fit the bore of the rims.

That says the car is fine and the stock rims are fine. All that is left to blame are your aftermarket rims and tires.

Do you have a bent rim, either because it was made wrong or because you hit something? The latter is easy to do with 20s; I worry about my 19s.

A tire that isn't perfectly round is another possibility although quality control is pretty good now. A few years ago, our tire dealer replaced a Kumho at 5k miles because the belts were separating.

A bent rim or out-of-round tire will wobble even if balanced perfectly on the machine. The shop should use a dial indicator to check radial and lateral runout.

Is the offset of your aftermarket rims different from stock? That can cause problems.
