--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So i have this problem-when reaching certain speed(50-&up mph)my steering wheel and shift knob start to shake violently. Its not that i cant controll the car,but the shake is pretty bad.I went to my mechanic and after inspecting the car ,the only thing he found was shot tension rods bushings. So my question is: i know i can get whiteline bushings for $50,and he quoted me $100 for installation.I also have the option of buying these http://www.zilvia.net/f/showth...=rodsand paying $40 for installation, which is about the same pricewise. What i want to know which option would you suggest to me,the car is my daily driver, but i drive it a lot and kinda hard,i also live in los angeles and the roads are ****edup here(i also plan on using the car for atox in future).Thanx for all replyes in advance

holy crap! that's too much to install those things...

u can take them off the vehicle yourself if u have jacks/stands/torque wrench/breaker bar...

just let him handle the bushing R&R if u can't/ don't have the tools needed.

others will chime in on how easy/PITA to get those bushings on w/out a press of some sort.

If u were nearby, i'd do it for a tank o gas

PS: link doesn't work

PPS: i think one of our sponsors <SPL> can get 'em for $42 shipped <that quote was a while back when I emailed them>

yep, zanos, u can remove them yourself & have the new bushings pressed in... i bought an extra set of tc rods & removed the old crappy ones out, & pressed the new ones in.

then, I can just swap the rods out w/out any "downtime"

get a 2nd opinion, BTW, it may also be engine/transmission mounts/ tie rod ends, etc...

Get the Tein T/C rods. They'll tighten up your steering and they have pillow ball mounts, which are superior to bushings.
