Steering wheel shaking

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

I took my EX35 on the highway for the first time today for a long distance trip. What I realized is that when I am going +60MPH, if I apply the brakes to slow down, the steering wheel starts shaking really bad. Does anybody experience this with their EX? It is not that I am braking really hard, even small to moderate touches on the brake give the same effect. The car only has about 250 miles on it.

It looks like you have a warped rotor. Might be faded brake. How many miles you've got on the EX. Take it to the dealer and try to get them fix it for you. They might give you a hard time. Sometimes it can happen from some harder braking or just not properly torqued rotors. If you brake hard try to drive your car just a little more so the rotor can cool down a little more.

You can try this to see if it helps in your situation before take it to the dealer.

Go on a good stretch HWY. Speed up around 60 mph. Try to apply a little brake just gently and continuously. Don't stop. Take your foot off the brake before you stop. Speed up and do the same thing again brake gently.......etc. Then speed up and drive for another mile or 2. Do this a verry next day also. It can help.Hope it helps.Let us know how it turns out.

Thanks a lot for the input. I'll give your suggestion a try. The car has only 250 miles. And yesterday was the first time I took it to the highway out of the city. I am not a hard braker, and didn't have to brake really hard for a quick stop since I bought it. I hope the dealer does not charge for the fix because it doesn't make sense that the rotor will be warped by itself in about 200 miles. It was probably like that when I first bought it.

How dangerous is this if I don't get it fixed immediately? Would it damage any other parts if I keep using it like this?

If you ave only 250 miles on your car just take it back to your dealer and tell them to deal with it. It most likely came with warped rotors. It can happen from in proper torque on the rotors. They most likely have runout.

About how dangerous.Well your brake does not as efficient as it suppose to so from that point you know. It takes a little longer for the brake to stop. Also it depends how bad it is maybe your ABS does not work right.

That could be one of the reason for ulsing brake too. The abs.

I had a 07 G35 sedan with this problem. I took it back to the dealership and they did tell me that it was the rotor. They replaced it at no charge.
