here are the things i know:-my alignment is a bit off

-2 front tires have like 10% tread left in them (dont know if i should buy new tires because ive been thinking of getting some new wheels soon)

-2 rear wheels have new tires in them with about 99% left and also both balanced (only had them for about 4 days)

-Tokico blues with megan lowering springs

You must have bent the rim a bit, if so take it to a tire place to get it balance, it will stop the steering wheel shake but it might make a wired noise because of the bent part

I had the same problem a while back. After I got new tires and an alignment, the shaking went away.

I would say get an alignment and balance those wheels. The roads around here are ****ty and as soon as I leave the alignment shop I'm constantly swerving to dodge one pot hole and hit another. I refuse to pay for alignment until they fix the roads.

meh just go ahead and take it to a shop and have them balance them if you don't want to get new ones.

(1) Alignment does not cause shaking unless you have a bad bushing or balljoint .This would cause shaking and alignment problems .(2) Bald tires will cause slight shaking .If you car is lowered the camber wear will throw the ballance of the tire off .(3) Bent wheel will diffently cause the shaking .No balancer made will remove the shaking if you have a bent wheel .

Now if you feel the shaking in the steering wheel then its usualy in the front of the car (wheels mostly) if you feel it in the seat then you might have muitiple problems the least of your worries would be a bent wheel .I know many of you are gonna ask "How do you know this" I know cause i work for a tire shop and have worked for 2 car dealers in the past 6 years working with the best equipment money can buy .Hope this helps .

Have you tried replacing your steering chassis parts like tie-rod ends and stuff? There's no point getting an alignment if your tie-rod is busted.

i would think a bent rim would cause vibrations before 60mph as well...then again, I've never bent one of my rims so I wouldn't know.

But I just had the same problem... usually between 60-65 you'll notice it and around 70+ it will mostly go away. One of the weights probably fell of so I just had them rebalanced and it went away.

I had pretty much the same problem when I hit 50 and when I'd hit the brakes. Changed the shocks, got a little better. Today I changed the tension rods(Megan Racing tension rods), since the busings were blown from the OEM ones (that's what 200K miles). Took it for a test drive and the car runs smoothly! Check your tension rods and bushings.

To confirm/rule out the front tires being the problem, just rotate the fronts to the back, backs to front and take it for a drive. If the steering wheel doesn't shake, then it's the tires for sure.If the steering wheel still shakes, could be a ball joint, tie-rod, or badly worn rack bushings.
