Steering Wheel Rubber Membrane Disintegrating on 06 M35 sport.

Turns out that the oils in your fingers disintegrate the rubber membrane on the steering wheel near the volume controls and enter button on the left side of the wheel. I rest my forefinger and thumb in that area and found the the rubber membrane is wearing off. Guess what???? That is considered wear and is NOT covered under factory warranty. Solution: Buy and new air bag system which includes the switches in the steering wheel. Cost for the new air bag is $800.00 and another $200.00 for labor. The good news is that I found out that the steering wheel itself does not have to be replaced. The steering wheel is another $1K dollars.

They tell me that not all body chemistry is a like and that this is not a major issue? Does anyone else have this problem?? Or is it just me??
