Steering wheel radio control DOA

Just picked up an '04 QX4 w/94K miles over the weekend and was really bummed when i tried the steering wheels controls for the stereo OEM Bose system. Got nothing - rest of the system works fine, just no remote steering wheel operations.

Is this a common problem? ...perhaps with a common, simple fix, I'm hoping?? Any advice or pointing me in the right direction would be appreciated. Thx.

Same thing with mine, the horn doesn't work either. One of the P/Os ran an external button for the horn so I'm guessing the truck was in an accident at some point

Sounds like the clockspring.

Horn pad not functional, no cruise, audio controls, and flashing/solid air bag is definitely clock spring.

Sorry for the delayed response... feel kinda foolish to now report all controls are functioning normally.

Got in the next day and all was normal. The car had just gone through pre-delivery detailing at the Lexus dealer I purchased it from - suppose it could have been the excessive moisture inside the car (interior windows stayed fogged for over 24 hours).

How much does a clock spring usually go for?
