Hey, I am interested in buying a new steering wheel for my S13 after I get it Friday. I was wondering if anyone knows a good steering wheel for drift? I don't know if i should get a larger diameter or smaller diameter one deep dish or non deep dish. I was going to buy a ebay quick release hub and stuff but I have been hearing they have alot of play in them? I was also worried about the steering wheel being too far back in my face. Anyone got any suggestions.

first thing to remember is you get what you pay for. stay away from no-name stuff when you are talking about steering wheels, hubs and quick releases. if you buy a cheap ebay quick release it will probably develop play and slop eventually.

as for what one works best with drifting, *sigh* no steering wheel is MADE for drifting its all what you want and need out of it. how close to your body you want it, round, oval, thumb rests and stops, etc etc.

heres a crappy picture of how close my wheel is to me

I have a momo Mod .07 with momo hub and NRG quick release. its perfect for me. steering wheel is about 1.5 feet away from my chest. that means i have to move my arms less to make adjustments also requires less strength to hold it so fatigue is better throughout a long event.

but thats what i wanted.

the quick release and hub are a total of about 6-7 inches from the steering column and my wheel is about a 2.5 inch dish.

I would seriously not recommend cheaping out on a quick release. NRG, FET, sparco, anything thats tried and true.

Cool, I respect what your saying. I normally drive kinda close to the wheel, as it is. I am about 5' 11 or so and I normally am close enough that my legs are kinda spread open. I don't like being to far back away from the wheel. Where is a good source for a wheel then and quick release?

I would like round as it seems easier to hold onto thumb rests and stuff don't really care about. I would like to have a steering wheel like the OEM that came on the Ae86. I had a Hatch and I liked its feel.

The only reason I asked about Diameter is because I know in drifting its good to have a nice Lock to Lock speed. So I was interested in larger Diameter because less turn to equal faster wheel angle.

Is deep dish good setup? I am thinking Deepish and medium diameter.

your steering angle has nothing to do with your steering wheel size.

its physically limited by your steering stops and rack.

LOLI didn't say it increased steering angle I was saying it will increase the speed to reach your max steering angle. one turn of a big wheel will create a larger range of motion then one turn of a smaller wheel.^_^

its the sacrafice you'll have to make in order to be mad jdm tyte dorifto master...!

besides, aftermarket wheels are made in consideration that the driver will use them with a helmet. i guaranty that if i get in an accident, my wheel will split my wig, but if it was stock, the stock one will probably bent around my head

if you do, its more practical for daily driver use. like when i got my wheel closer, i keep tryin to flick the turn signals, but my fingers wouldnt reach... lol
