Have a new M35x 4000 miles. Have started to hear a rubbing/grinding noise (for about a second) near the front wheels when I turn the steering wheel and accelerate from 0-5 miles per hour. Does not occur all of the time, but often enough to be most annoying. Anyone else have this experience?

Welcome to NICO!

I have not heard of this issue before. So, I hope that others chime in too.

What does the dealer say about this noise?

Sorry, I have not had any experience with that sound. I have a 06' M35sport, with appx. 2600 miles. Good luck on a fix. Larry

I have the all wheel drive, and it also make a "rubbing like" nose at low speed while turning a corning... I have been wondering about it myself;

I was planning on having it looked at when I came in next for service....

Larry - I assume you dont ave AWD, and I belive this noise is limited to the AWD versions for some reason, almost like its trying to engage AWD but it doesnt and it making a funny noise when its partially engaged...tk

Thanks for the info. Yes. When turning a corner at low speed, it makes a short "creaking" sound.

tk: I found a 2003 Nissan service bulletin re creaking sound from front fender area. Same characteristics- slow speed, turning in or out of driveway-they even use the word "creak". Could be a chassis or fender bolt adjustment. May end up in body shop to have work done. I'm taking it in next Tuesday.

TK,

Did you ever find out what is causing the rubbing noise when turning the wheel?

Had the same problem in AWD M35.

Had the dealer drive it and they were confused too.

then they replaced power steering assembly in the right front --- sorry i'm not very mechanically versed.

nonetheless, the sound is gone.

creaking with slow right turns now gone.

HighStressI've got it only on right turns also;I have not had them look at this yet as mine seems to be limited to colder days (which we have not had of late)

I'm still planning on having it looked at in the fall/winter when its clear, and can be dupliated easytk

I got this not in a infinity but in my Sentra SE R 2007. Did you ever figure out what was the cause? It seems very common on the new SE R and Spec V but I can't get a darn answer as to what causes it.

Well, given the thousands of cars that have been sold, it is not totally surprising that you will see some problems.

The thing is, though, people only tend to post when they have these problems, so it "seems" to be a common issue to all the vehicles. Statistically, though, they usually are not ... when they do become common, it warrants a TSB at least, or worst case, a recall for some item or the other.

All car manufacturers have these problems, to some degree or the other. You have to look at the whole fleet to generalize though ... I find the J.D. Power reports and the Consumer Reports yearly summaries to be decent indicators of quality in general.

You are correct. There are certainly problems with many if not most vehicles. I can tell you however, that my M35X has been a fabulous vehicle. I am going to address my power steering issue with the dealer again, and get it fixed this time. Other than PS the car has no other problems of any kind,FYI

I've got a 2007 M45 with 320 miles on it and I noticed it turning into my driveway at very low speeds, it does have a rubbing noise. and mine is rwd not awd. I had it happen a few other times. I noticed that it happens only when I go real slow. I just thought that it was just a breaking in period. I'll have to ask the dealer.
