Tension rods. look uder your car at the front suspension, see the rods that go from the front to the lower control arms at about a 30 degree angle? If they are wet up by their frony bushings they have gone bad.

try http://www.splparts.com I have their tension rods on the s14 and they are much better than stock. they cost a little over $100.

Id also check for worn tie rod ends, and a bent wheel.

i slammed on my brakes and left a big puff of smoke and now my steering wheel shakes and my car veers hahaha wonder what happened :-Dbrand new tires too  the car did that when i first bought it too and the new tires fixed it. could be unevenly worn tires or bad wheel balance in addition to the things mentioned above

Same thing happened to me, just check your alligment, both of you. If the wheels aren't properly alligned it will causethe car to pull to one side, and the steering wheel to shake, expecially when breaking. I would reccomend teaking it to a mechanic the get it alligned if you don't know what you're doing because it's a very precise thing.
