Ok. Here's my problem.

When I'm driving down the road... for my car to go straight... my wheel is cocked slightly to the right. Imagine if you are holding your steering wheel. Turn it to the right maybe 3/4 of an inch and that's how my car is right now.

It's not super extreme, but it worries/bugs me. I've already taken it to Firestone for an alignment, but that didn't fix the problem. My car actually drives in a straight line. If I'm not holding the steering wheel, it goes in a perfectly straight line... but the wheel is cocked in the manner I described.

Is it possible that the steering wheel itself has become loose and needs to be adjusted? I'm probably going to take it to Firestone again tomorrow to tell them the steering wheel is still off and see what they say.

After consulting with my good friend GOOGLE... looks like Firestone doesn't know how to align cars correctly.

I will def be making a trip again tomorrow. But I'ld still like to hear your comments. Let me know if I'm wrong. I think it's an easy adjustment of the tie rods.

But I paid for the lifetime alignment so I'm gonna get my money's worth.

Your best bet is have Firestone align your car loaded. By loaded, I mean you sitting in the seat and holding the steering wheel straight. My buddy did that with mine and it's dead on perfect!

Thanks, I'll ask. Don't know if it'll fly with their 'insurance regulations' bull****. But hopefully.

Mine is the exact same way. Happens when you put on the Eibach Springs.

So I really shouldn't worry about it? I ended up not going today. But am planning on tomorrow for sure.

I think it got worse once I put the 20"s on. I can't recall exactly though. I'm gonna try to do what Dangeris said and sit in my car and hold it straight.

I think mine may be slightly off? What do the Eibachs have to do with it?

Funny this came up because I just got my Eibachs installed a couple weeks ago and I was told the dealership had done an alignment after they installed it, but I then figured out from a friend that when the springs start to settle I will have to an alignment anyway and that's actually when you're supposed to get your alignment done. I discovered this in the same manner when I noticed on the highway once I hit above 80km/hr that the steering isn't center and it's like BlacknWhite mentions, however with mine if I let the steering wheel go the car should follow the curve of the road but mine tends to pull to the left slightly. I'm going into my dealership around 11am, I will let you guys know how it goes.

My friend has lifetime alignment with Firestone too for his Tacoma. He hates it because they bull**** him everytime.

he goes in about every other weekend because he messes up his alignment everytime he goes offroading. but they always say its aligned already and crop like that.

old topic, I know, but, my coupe is stock, and mine is just like yours, but, it goes to the left...I let go of the wheel on the fwy, the car goes straight for a bit, then starts to slowly got to the right, everytime. Is this a regualr problem...is it time to get my alignment checked? Car has just over 29k on the odo.

Wow, 29K already? I haven't even hit 19K.

You're def in need of an alignment. Mine would not, and still does not go in any direction but straight.

Yeah, I was afraid of that, I am taking it in in August for an oil change so I will have the dealer check it out for me. I want to sit in it or someone too, so the wheel will be centered. It didn't seem that way when I first got it, but I was getting on the on ramp to the north 5 at Redhill at 4am going to work, and nailed this fricking pothole with my left front wheel, I didnt see the hole, and I hit it at about 50 mph. They have patched it now

It's not bad, you know, it's just a little annoying, I can get pretty anal about small things like that, I am a little OCD, lol

And yeah, I bought the car used May 1st, so it had 27k on it when I bought it 2 months ago, tha chick who owned it beofre me was a resteraunt rep here in So Cal, she bought it new on 1/17/08, so she did allot of driving. I give her credit, she never curbed the rims, no curb rash at all, and a girl was driving it! To me, curb rash is the altimate sin

My steering wheel is the same as yours. Its off center slightly, and it only happened after I got an alignment. I've used firestone's lifetime alignment before on my Audi and they couldn't align it for beans. I had them do it 4 times and it always pulled to the right no matter what; and one time they tore my inner cv-boot doing the alignment and tried to play the "it was like that when you brought it in" crap. So I went back to lifetime alignment from tires plus for the altima. Although they apparently couldn't align this for beans either.
