Hi. Just purchased an '11 Rogue. There is a hole on the back of the top of the steering wheel. It's not very big and it's a circle. Is this by design -- to maybe indicate the top of the wheel -- or is this some sort of defect? We've never had it on one of our cars before, but this is our first Nissan in a decade.

Thanks in advance.

Assuming we're thinking of the same thing, it sounds like you're describing what's a byproduct of the molding process for the wheel.

Thanks for the reply. I'll see if I can snap a picture sometime today.

Got the picture, but doesn't look like I can add an attachment. It looks like a "hole punch" -- perfect circle at the absolute top of the wheel. Really looking just to find out whether its normal, or whether its something that might get worse in time. It seems too perfect to be a defect and based on what you said, it seems like it probably isn't.

Nick 658 hit it on the nose:

It's a normal byproduct of the molding process. Every Nissan I have owned has had these 'holes'... Altima, Pathfinder, 240SX, Rogue. The wheel has never come apart, cracked, etc because of it.
