My steering wheel never returns to the center. For instance if I turn right the car will eventually straighten itself out, but the steering wheel will remain a little to the right until I turn left, in which case the same thing happens.

There is no shaking or looseness in the steering, just this problem. It is a little unnerving because I drive 45 mins to an hour one way to get to work.

Any ideas? I have a donar Z at my disposal but I'm not sure what parts to pull from it to try and figure this out.

Additional info; the CAR itself doesn't continue to go in that direction, it straightens out. Just the STEERING WHEEL stays turned.

Without getting under the car yet I have determined that bad steering rack bushings may be the cause, as the car also is much bumpier and jolts when going over bumps and turning at the same time. I will look tonight.

Put the car up for a peek tonight; yeah the bushings are shot. The passenger one isn't bad but the driver side is just about gone, there is a little remaining between the metal.

Ordered a new set tonight for $8.64 and will be here in 2 days.

Will update once installed, thanks!

Also you should really get an alignment done, this will ensure you do not have any other problems in the front end.
