My '05 Q45 has steering wheel controls for the cruise, radio, etc. The letters are not stamped, but rather only painted on. The letters on my computer keyboards wears off before too long and can't be read.I'm afraid that the same thing will happen to the letters on my steering wheel controls.

Does anyone have a way to put some sort of coating over the letters to protect them from wear that doesn't require removing the entire assemblies from the steering wheel? I'm afraid to just paint clear nail polish over the letters for fear that it might remove the letters, and I don't want to just spray something on them and get gook into the switches inside.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Normally Japanese wear white cotton gloves to avoid caustic hand oils from contaminating paint.
