Steering wheel audio controls

Have a 2015 basic model sedan Nissan Versa. Added rear speakers and now steering wheel audio controls don't work. But Bluetooth works. And there is resistance at the radio but the radio seems to not respond to the command from the wheel to the radio. Does anyone know what could be wrong? Has anyone added rear speakers and then seen this happen?
