steering squeel!

hey guys , 1989 240 FB 3 pedal , when i first start it up when i turn the steerin weel it squeeal a bit then stops..then today i popped the hood and started it up and had my friend turn the steerin wheel when it goes all the way to the right or all the way to the left the top left pulley stops turnin but the belt keeps movin and it squeels like a mofo...why do you think this is? could the best need adjusting? and if so wheres the adjuster at? thanks alot guys

Not to seem like a wise guy, but did you check the power steering fluid??? It will make noises especially at a stop if its low on power steering fluid.

all fluids in car are topped off...and if by any chance..could someone please find me a diagram of the engine bay layout...so i know where everything is exactly too...thanks

ps reservoir = on drivers side attached to the shock tower. has a black cap and fluid inside should be red.

Tighten your power steering pump belt. While standing at the front of the car looking at the engine, the tentioner pulley is at the top right.

Yes...make sure the fluid is red. Red means its ATF fluid. You shouldn't be using power steering fluid.

not to be stupid or ne thing but you were thinking of the ka24de on his 89(sohc-unless its swapped) its on the passanger side shock tower.

yeah i gots the SOHC..lol..and the resev is on the left and the fluid is red and it says full line...i put power steering fluid in...im sposed to use ATF?

what would happened if someone does use the clear fluid vs. the red ATF??? just curious.

+1 on checking drive belt tension or replacement...

whooaaa wait...am i supposed to be puttings in red automatic transmition fluid in? instead of clear power steering fluid? why cant yu put in the clearn PS fluid?

ps fluid ends up leaking. put in ATF.
