steering rack problems

Guys, I need some help. I have a 1997 Q45. My power steering does not work. I replaced the pump, that did not help. I then replaced the rack, still no improvement. When I was bleeding the system my fluid keeps foaming. I think that would indicate air getting in the system, but there are no visable leaks anywhere. While doing the bleeding process, there is a noise each time I turn the wheel. The tensioner pully seems to be alright when I release the tension. I am out of ideas and do not want to sell out taking to the dealer. Any ideas would be greatly Appreciated.

Where did you get the replacement rack? Replacement pump? What is belt tension per FSM.

Non Nissan Aftermarkets have a 1 in 5 chance of working properly since they just take worn out leakers and reseal them without changing any hard parts for a few hundred $.

You must hold the wheel in extremes [back and forth a few times] for 5 secs each to squeel the air out.

it usually works best ifyou have the wheels off the ground, too.

The rack and pump came out of another Q with rear end problems. The steering worked great in the donor car.
