steering rack 300zx

steering rack 300zx
I have a 1986 300zx that needs the steering rack replaced. I have been told the steering rack from an 88 will work and then I was told it wouldn't. Does anyone know if the 88 will work in my 86????? I just got the car and would like to get it fixed so I can drive it. Thanks!!

I can answer that definitely the Z32 rack will NOT work with the Z31.

Hell yeah!Seriously though, I bought one for my NA years ago and part of that hunt was for alternatives given the scarcity of just a good rack for sale- I had to source one from Cali and have it shipped. I never used it and eventually sold it to a fella in B.C.
The Z32 suspension is more like (and comes from) the GT-R, while the Z31 chassis is different completely.
