Hey everyone,

I have a 1996 Pathfinder 4WD, and I am removing the steering knuckle to replace the ball joint. I have everything unbolted except for one last thing. There is a wire that comes and plugs into the back of the knuckle. It has a pretty big rubber boot that plugs into the actual knuckle. Does anyone know what this is and how to remove it? I tried wiggling it out but it seems like its either stuck on pretty tight or comes out differently?

I took a look at the FSM and it doesn't mention anything about this plug anywhere. I will try to take a picture and upload it tonight or probably tomorrow. Thanks for the help!

Turns out its the ABS sensor. No need to actually remove it to get the knuckle off. Instead remove the electrical clip. Its right behind the strut/spring on the inner wheel well. I found it easier to remove the two bolts that hold the clip "chamber" in place. Once that is off press on the top of the clip and pull. It comes out and then you can remove the entire knuckle. Oh, there is also 1 more bolt that holds the wire to the strut assembly as well. Left side.
