As you guys know i own a 1989 hard body and i have noticed when I am making a tight turn to the left or right my steering likes to pop creak and shudder. It's kind of unnerving to feel like your steering is about to fall apart underneath you any ideas on what it might be?

Oh there is NO power steering either so please.. i don't want anything to break while I am driving

You know how motorcycles have those little metal bosses on the forks that won't let them turn too far? Well, thats what is on our HB's. They are made of metal, and when you turn all the way to lock, (either way), they are rubbing against the control arm, creaking and popping, (after all, they are metal on metal). Check it out, or if you can't find it, I'll post a pic. You should also check and fill the steering gear with some gear lube since you have the manual (non-power assisted) steering box.

Either 80w90 or 90w150 lube for the steering box. Heres the pics, you can see how they are progressive, the more the suspension compresses the less its gonna let you turn.[IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG]

The stop screws came with nylon covers from the factory. They wear out and fall off over time, but are available and are very inexpensive.
