Hi all -

I am a new member here. I own a 2013 M37 (Touring Packaged) that I purchased in May with 8K miles on it.

I have two questions which I have not been able to find an answer to:

1. I feel there is a lot of play in my wheel. Just feels shaky especially at speed. I went to the dealer and the tech said everything was in spec. I am coming from a BMW where the steering is a bit tighter. But it's just too much in the M37.

2. Has anyone done any mods to their arm rests? If there is one weakness in the interior, it's the arm rest. It offers almost no padding and is quite uncomfortable after a while.

Thanks,

Jonathan

Welcome to the forum. You're extremely low mileage, so nothign should be worn yet. What BMW did you come from? If you came from a 3-series, yes...it'll feel loose. If you came from a 5 or 7, it should feel not much different. I'm currently driving an Infiniti Q50 and that thing handles like a freakin train on rails compared to my M56. The M is a land yacht lol.

My '56s has about1/8!inch travel or play in the steering wheel on the freeway. If you move it more than 1/8 inch the car starts to move. I do have the rear when steering so it may help.

I agree. The BMs (especially the M series and 3 series) are designed as sports sedans with the emphasis on sport. The M is designed as a 'sporty' saloon luxury car so there is a little less road connection in the steering and a little more 'play'. It may be just a matter you getting used to that difference.

Do a search to see if any companies make an aftermarket front strut tower brace to see if it tightens the steering feel a bit. You may also want add an after rear sway bar too if there some available.

Well, he does have an M37, so the ones we've been talking about (Tanabe Sustec) will certainly help him.
