I've been absent from the site for awhile. I'm still rocking the pathy, but have an issue with what I assume is the steering. My pathfinder is lifted with OME struts, springs and shocks, and I replaced the front lower control arms and rear trailing arms last year.
About six months ago or so, I started to get a groaning noise from what I assume is the steering column. It is very intermittent, happens when the engine is hot or cold, but seems to only happen when I'm in drive, stopped at light or stop sign. When in motion, groan is gone, as well as when I shift into park. Turning the wheel cause the groaning to lessen or go away entirely, until I let go of the wheel and it may or may not come back. Like I said, very intermittent.
Has anyone had the same issue after lifting? I saw mention of installing a longer steering linkage, but is that necessary and/or the problem I'm having?
Any advice would be appreciated.
