Hey guys,

I've been absent from the site for awhile. I'm still rocking the pathy, but have an issue with what I assume is the steering. My pathfinder is lifted with OME struts, springs and shocks, and I replaced the front lower control arms and rear trailing arms last year.

About six months ago or so, I started to get a groaning noise from what I assume is the steering column. It is very intermittent, happens when the engine is hot or cold, but seems to only happen when I'm in drive, stopped at light or stop sign. When in motion, groan is gone, as well as when I shift into park. Turning the wheel cause the groaning to lessen or go away entirely, until I let go of the wheel and it may or may not come back. Like I said, very intermittent.

Has anyone had the same issue after lifting? I saw mention of installing a longer steering linkage, but is that necessary and/or the problem I'm having?

Any advice would be appreciated. :)

I have a similar issue...

It almost feels like a vibration/groan for me. When I am driving I get a vibration at 50mph that I attribute to my drive shaft or U-joint (I hope it isn't the transmission but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it). I believe that to be unrelated. At idle at a traffic light or just after stopping I get what I believe you are describing. I am lifted 1" currently on 4X4design spacers, but I had the issue before. I am not entirely sure it is from the steering although I do feel it in the wheel. Could be an engine mount or something like that. It has never become louder or gotten worse, but it is kind of annoying.

Sorry I cannot offer anything other than a similar experience, but if I find anything, I will definitely post it here.
