Hmm.... I have a weird problem. My steering shaft is not long enough to allow the lower joint to slide all the way down on the steering rack gear. This is with RB20 in S14 using R32 x-member.

As far as I could tell, the steering rack should be in the exact same location as it was with the KA x-member. Why does my steering shaft no longer reach all the way??? Anyone else have this problem?

Yeah, I see that the shaft *should* telescope, but believe me, this thing is not moving. I rosebudded it and still could not move it. I need about 1 cm more.... do you know how far the telescoping spline can be pulled out? Mine is so far in that only the last 1 mm or so of the spline shows.

it should move several inches as this is part of the crash safety system. It may have been damaged in a wreck and not replaced.....

I measured the shaft from the u-joint to the end and found it to be exactly at spec (13.75" long). Have you ever attempted to telescope one of these, i.e. is it supposed to telescope only when hit very, very hard?
