Steering Column Rattle

Last week i've gotten a rattle in the steering column. If the road is perfectly smooth no rattle but if the road has minor bumps and stuff, the rattle is noticeable. It sounds like it's coming from the top of the column but deeper inside the instrument cluster. This happens all the time now.

I remember seeing a post a while ago about someone that did something that took forever trying to find the problem but finally found the solution. I can't find it.

Can any one help me out with this?

I also noticed an even louder rattling noise today behind my GPS screen. Once I turned on the heater and hot air started coming out, the rattle went away. I won't worry about that might just be temp change. expanding and contracting etc.
