My EX like most other 2008's suffered from the telescoping motor failure, but since the car was overseas it was never repaired under warranty. I have noticed also on occasion the power steering seems to go out and thought maybe it was a problem with the pump. While I was driving the car yesterday, I had to make a quick stop and as a result pushed the entire steering assembly forward. I didn't think this was a big issue as the steering wheel is made to telescope, the motor is just dead. I figured worst case I stripped the gears in the motor which doesnt work anyway. Later that evening when driving to get some dinner, I decided to pull the steering wheel back out to the location it was before. Little did I know the entire steering wheel/column would nearly come off. As a result the spiral cable(clockspring) came out as did a bunch of small metal bearings(Possibly part of the clockspring)? I was close to home when it happened so I found a safe place to park. Should the steering column really come out that easy? I'm not the Incredible Hulk
Here is a pic I took of the damage:

Obviously I will need a new clockspring and not sure what else yet. Unforunately the Inifinit dealer here won't service US spec cars, so I have to order parts online and find a local shop to fix it. Any recommendations on best places online to buy? Suggestions, comments, taunts, and insults welcome!
