when im, say, in a parking lot turning around or somthing, if i turn my wheel kinda hard i hear a clunk, if i turn it all the way, i hear a couple clunks, and when i straitin the wheels back out again they clunk some more, and it seems that if i get it to clunk one way, and then go down the road with out it clunking the other way the car will pull to that side. the clunking is only at low speeds and or stops. i dont think its suspension but somthing with the steering? any idea what i could be? all the suspension parts seem tight/ no loose parts

Yeah, that happened to me. I had to have my power steering rack and pinion replaced. Mine eventually got so bad that it would jump to the side in the middle of a turn and would kind of jerk whenever I would hit the brakes.

As far as I know, it didn't do any damage to anything else. I did have to replace my tires much more frequently. Also, I think if you go for a safety inspection, you may be required to have the steering working properly. I had someone do the work for me, and it cost about $630. The rebuilt rack and pinion were around $400. It seemed to take the mechanic a few hours to do the job, and he had a lift.

From a saftey stand point. If your rack is internally binding and that is infact the source of your clunk, You need to worry more about the loss of control of the car should it bind to a point it wont turn at all, say on a freeway off ramp or something, that would not be good.
