So motor is running, started fine today. Holler. I start it up, it won't rev past 2,000rpm before it starts to bog. There is literally water spraying out the exhuast that does become gas and make white smoke, lots of water all down the exhaust an a little bit leaking in other places.

Bad headgasket? Which seal would be bad? What am I looking at here?

I think it's bogging down because it becomes flooded, it idles pretty low but it builds boost and the blow-off valve hits strong.

Its bogging because your losing compression, im almost 99% shure its a HG, your looking at pulling the head, replacing the HG, not very pricey if you just use stock parts, I would use a stock HG with ARP studs, good set up. goodluck man.

Hmm this is what is causing coolant/water to leak into my turbo and out the exhaust? Thats what I've heard from you and others so I think I'm just going to order a stock dimensions HG and arp studs and have a shop do it. I really don't want to mess with removing that head.

how many hours do you think it would take a good shop to do this?

from what i can see, if you arent shooting for 500 hp or numbers up there, go cometic hg with oem head studs if they are in spec. i think i just spent money on my studs cuz i had a debt at a shop.

Wait, you have all the signs of a blown HG, im 99% shure you do, but your water jacket in your turbo could be damaged and your leaking coolant into your exhaust housing, thats a far shot, but wouldnt that be better than a HG. lol.

It's a brand new GT2871R. That would indeed make me sad =(

It's an aftermarket HG thats on there now, the previous owner in japan must have changed it. Bah! So I think i'll go with the http://www.240sxmotoring.com/cohega880for.html headgasket. And ARP headstuds sigh, $200!

So about how many hours do you guys think it will take for a shop to do this?

An experienced SR shop shouldn't need more than a total of 2-3 hours to pull it and re-install (that's what I was quoted IIRC), but if you pull the head you really need to get it decked too. I wanted to have the head pulled on my SR, but then I thought, "well if I do that I'd want to replace w/Metal MG, ARP studs, deck, and the complete timing assembly, and the oil pump and cover. That's a lot of extra $$ I don't have right now, so I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.
