Cliffs: Idiot who works for Nissan gets mad at some other idiot on a forum. Defending the finicky GT-R doesn't seem worth ruining your professional reputation. Nissan tries to distance itself from Chip.

Eh, its not even Nissan's transmission, its BorgWarner's.

Yes, the problems come from when you are beating on the transmission, but the car is marketed as such. The GTR has always been a tank, and you are to believe that the car CAN take an epic beating.

Still, I kinda think the problem is blown out of proportion. They never have to remove the transmission from the car, just make an update to the electronics, which you would think they would encorporate into the TCM. "When this starts happening... do this" type of deal. It really shouldn't have to go into a shop for the problem.

The stupidity of some people, I think it's safe to say that despite having edited and corrected his posts that he will be either looking at a demotion or being kicked to the curb in the near future. With the automotive industry pretty much in the toilet to have one of your upper echelon make you and your company look bad just doesn't fly, even if it's inadvertent. Seeing as the GT-R is the most expensive car that NIssan has EVER produced and sold to insult people who may very well have the means and interest to purchase one and those that are current owners of one is just really bad business. What a retard, he should be put in for the Douchebag of the Year award.

passion...honesty...balls?

it's lacking in the world today.

I'd rather have someone that'll step up to the plate for the product than suck every idiot's d!ck that can't understand how brutal the launch control is on a car.

the Enzo had that too if I remember right....it'll fry the clutches in the transmission pretty quick.

If he gets the boot, which I doubt he will and dont think he should, he'll have a heck of a time finding a top-level job at any automaker right now. Hyundai might let him polish some Elantras.

Maybe GM would like to hire him, they could use an exec that has the balls to stand up to their critics.

Looks like he missed a golden opportunity to explain the problem with the launch control because he was butt hurt. I think most car people know how harsh a AWD launch control can be on a transmission. It was wrong for Nissan to void warranties due to their own ignorance. And this guy was right when he stood behind his product. But name calling and childish bickering never accomplishes anything.

I would still buy a GTR if i had the dough. And M1der you right. Both Ferrari and Lamborghini have been known to have terrible manual transmission and clutches. Truth was that you couldn't even beat on a standard manual Ferrari or Lambo with out burning a clutch out. Thats why they all moved to F1 and E-gear style clutches and levers. I think the Porsche Carrera GT is the only supercar with a standard 6 speed that you can beat on all day long and not burn the clutch out. Jay Leno said he bought a Carrera GT just for the clutch alone.

Just cause you drop $100k on a car doesn't mean you can do whatever the hell you want with it and have it replaced for free. I bet a lot of the whining GTR owners did as as Chip described, 'launch control on a cold engine every 100 miles for the first 4000 miles.' "Guys look at my cool new Nissan, it'll put your head in the back of the seat. Oh, no worries man, i got a warranty."
That and, wait a couple years after the release of a new model so the manufacturer can fix the defects. IMO
