welcome to nico!all the answers to the questions you are asking can be found by searching. click this guy in the top right of the screen.

to be blunt, the 3 RB engines that are reguarly swapped are all different in their own ways. money is usually the deciding factor when choosing a RB swap because they go up double from one to the next. 2000-4000-8000. RB20-RB25-RB26

And that $8000 figure for the RB26 is a LOW-BALL figure. That is if you find a great deal, and do NO maintenance on it, just slap it in there.

depending on what you want out of the car? what are your plans for the car?? what kind of power do you want to make? all these are small deciding factors.

High horespower, best possible gas mileage. Something that will last me a while. Ive also heard that the 25 is a straight 6 as opposed to the 26's v formation. does this make a difference or is it even true?

definitely need to recheck your source on that. they are all straight 6s. basically you get what you pay for. 8k is a very conservative estimate to get the motor in and running, no maintenance, running stockish ~300 hp.

Hell, I kept my RB26 stock, but just installed a timing belt, water pump, oil pump, etc. All in all, after buying EVERYTHING, installing it, and getting it running, I am running in upwards of 10k for the swap.

^^ werd. im getting near the 10K mark just getting little odds and ends to help me out later down the line. IE, greddy intake manifold, Q45 TB & MAFS, power FC etc etc etc. it seems to never end. i know it will all be worth while in the end.

I am embarrassed on what I have into my rb26 swap and all my parts. I could have had it in mostly stock with greddy front mount, blitz blow off and n1 exhaust and a few other little things for 10k. It was ok but I didn’t put it in there for 320hp. I am way past what it cost to swap the engine in stock, with all the aftermarket parts that I have for it now. It started with just a few things but then I thought to my self, why stick turbo's, exhaust and a few other thing on it and have something fail when I am beating on it. I have gone through the whole engine and replaced everything that I heard and thought might fail with aftermarket parts. I am glad that I did, I saw copper on one bearing and a few other minor things. I hate to say this too much but it should be reliable at 600hp. With how I have the inside built he said it would be good for 1000hp but I don’t need that much. I just want a quick spool to a 9-10k redline with around 600\650hp max. The olney thing I regret is how long my car has been down. I still wont have it all tuned and adjusted till the begining of next summer but that will give me a chance to get the volk gt-p's that I want and a few other things. I'm getting tired of talking about my dumb car so I am going to go get something usefull done on my day off.
