Hey everyone just looking for ideas as to why my truck is having problems staying running. It's a 96 D21 KA24e 2wd

I had it running when i was leaving a friends place and then it just snuffed out. I pulled off to see if i could get it back up. It starts for a few seconds then i hear a slight woosh of air then the engine just clocks out.

I have run injector cleaner and let it sit over night still nothin.

Pulled the snorkel and poured some injector cleaner into the intake to get it started, it will run a little longer i even got a few rev's out of it once before it fell on it's face again.

Pulled the fuel rail and barely any fuel is getting up to the injectors just a little drips out.

I have heard several ideas from friends that it could be either the fuel pump or some sort of inline fuel filter that's clogged or possibly the air flow censor?

So thats everything i can think of please help me out if you Nico Gods can! i used the teardown on here for my truck to replace the timing chain because i have the little knock of horror that guide was great and all of the comments after the post helped alot too so a I owe a big thank you to this community

tis.

I pulled the fuel filter and tried to see if anyone would squirt out nothin so i guess its the pump or a relay? Gonna have it towed home to fix0r it hopefully soon. I hope its not a fuel pump just did one in my old s-10 last winter was NOT fun at all almost every bolt broke off. I bought this thing hoping for less nightmares then my old s-10 looks like I cannot avoid trouble.

wish me luck

is starter fluid starts it and then it dies sounds like fuel issue. As soon as the fluid burns it dies, you are getting no fuel to the motor is what it sounds like. Time to check the fuel system. Clogged filter no fuel bad pump etc.

Clogged filter no fuel bad pump etc. First yank the filter and see if fuel flows if not then next is the pump.

I think Nico is getting a new server later today, so things are a little messed up right now. I think it is supposed to be faster after the changeover. It's not just your computer, RT.

Good luck OP.

I'm glad you got this fixed, but I just wanted to post another common cause: the crank sensor. If there is no signal from the crank sensor to the pcm, the fuel pump will not turn on for more than a couple seconds.
