Is this intermittent or does it die every time?

Did you check if the ECU housing is corroded through? If it is, you may have to get a replacement ECU. This is a common problem, as the ECU on the Quests is outside, in the engine bay. Folks on Questdriver forum reported many times they had all kinds of stalling issues due to ECU housing corrosion.

It just happened to me! I was working on the throttle pedal and had the position sensor plug disconnected. Forgetting about that, I tried to start and it died right away every time, until I recalled that the plug was disconnected. But I would imagine it should throw the codes P2122 or P2123 if TPPS was the reason. But it does not hurt to check anyway. Check the pages EC-655 to EC-669 in the FSM for the test procedures:

The voltages between the ECU plug terminal 106 and ground have to range from 0.5-1V (fully released pedal) to 4.2-4.8V (fully depressed pedal).
The voltages between the terminal 98 and ground have to range 0.25-0.5V (fully released) to 2-2.5V (fully depressed).

If you are not getting both voltages in that range the pedal sensor is a toast.

What did the problem end up being? I'm having the same issue.

Thanks

I had this happened to my 2008 SE. It turns out that the battery was on it's last leg (old and barely 3 years). I had a warranty on it and got it replaced.
