95 240SX 182,xxx miles, 5 speed

Starts when it wants to (most of the time) throws a hissy fit once a week or two (as in right now). I turn the key and get nothing, not a buzz, not a hum, not a click, just a blank dash. I'm trying to narrow down what I need to replace here, and the first thing coming to mind is the neutral safety switch (I'm not dumb enough to try to start in gear without the clutch down so I think I'd be alright). I know its a simple job, but i just can't seem to find a writeup or even a diagram of what I'm soldering where to just eliminate it. If the car still doesn't start then I'd imagine it would be a relay somewhere as I whacked the crap out of my starter and she still doesn't want to do much of anything. Thanks guys

If you're not getting anything at all when you turn the key, it's most likely just a lose wire. I got a S13 for cheap cuz no one could get it running, spent months trying to figure it out. It turned out the main power wire to the ignition was lose at the connector, so I by-passed the connector and spliced it, worked great after that.

It doesn't act much like a lose wire though, as after a push start its a crap shoot if its going to start again the next time. Example....i was at the student rec center, parked the car, worked out for like an hour, went back outside, dead. I get a push start, drive it back to my place and park it on it a hill facing down so in worst case i can get it out and to a shop to get worked on (I'm a grad student with very little free time). Turn the car off, test to see if it will start back up and is still dead. Car sits for about 5 days, i get in, it starts just fine and runs for 3 weeks before acting up again.

Check the clutch switch...that's probably your problem.
