over the past few days my car has been becoming weaker and weaker to start. Probably the past 5-6 starts, its not as loud or strong as usual and takes a while to start. It seems to be getting progressively worse. What is wrong here battery, starter? I'm afraid it won't start very soon.

Hook jumper cables up and try then. If that solves your problem then you need a new battery.
