Car: CARS!!!

Post

Hello to all of you smart car people out there. I just recently bought a 1993 nissan 240sx. I am a young person who doesn't know much about cars, just the basics. I was just wondering if someone could please explain the first basic steps to making your car into a drag car. Yeah i hear stuff about the cold air intake and rims, but i'm talking starting from step 1 and pimping the entire car out-performance wise. I'm not talking looks, just strictly performance. Like what should i do to the engine first etc. And yes i've heard of the sr20det and incase i did do the sr swap, what all do i need to do to the car. For example flywheels etc. If someone can start me off at step one i would really appreciate that. Thanks a lot,

Tim

ok, so you dont know much about cars? thats ok bro, nobody is born knowing stuff. for drag racing only you can forget about rims for now. a good intake like the injen is a start. if you run premium gas you can advance the ignition timing just a bit. from there you may want a header and catback exhaust(check out brm for that). if you want to launch hard you can put some bfgoodrich drag radials on the stock wheels. also, install synthetic fluids in your differential and transmission(you are using synthetic motor oil right?).

advance ignition by using a timing gun to see your timing and turning the distributor to advance or retard timing.

radials will give more grip, so instead of spinning tires it will launch forward

yeah, drag radials are not good in the rain but they are the best streetable tire for drag racing.

no drag radial are street tires with some tread one them. they are designed for drag racing rather than streetability or cornering.
