I have a 1989 240SX that I recently bought. I tried to crank it and all I am hearing is a clicking sound from the engine. Anyone know what is wrong? Also when I looked at the fuse box in the passenger side of the front I found that there are three relays missing along with the connection locations. Any idea on where I can find a new harness besides Nissan?

has it ever run for you? can you push start it? clicking noise can mean battery. on an s13 it is very common for the starter relay to fail. this part also goes by the term clutch interlock relay. it is a special blue relay that is not in any relay box and has two connectors on the bottom. sometimes there are optional things missing like relays and the connectors but that may be important stuff too. were they cut out?

The car has never ran as long as I have had it. It is an automatic so I am not sure it has the relay or not. As for the relays that are missing it is the ignition coil relay and the two right beside it. The battery is new so I am sure that it isn't the problem. I pulled out the started to see if it worked and all it did was make a humming sound but didn't act like it wanted to rotate. Here is another question. What is the pipe coming off of the down pipe in the exhaust? It looks like it leads back to the engine but I am not sure where it goes.

the pipe would be either your aiv or egr pipe. both of those are emissions devices. first things first you need to get some relays in there. one of the missing relays could very well be theft warning or somthing. then check to see if you have 12v going to the big starter wire and the small plug in.
