Ok so I just rebuilt my engine. I put it all together and tried to start it and when I turned the key nothing happened and the lights got dim. So I decided to jump start it and I hooked it up and tried again and the same thing happened. So I waited a little longer to see if the battery would charge. When I tried the last time I turned the key and this time nothing happens. When I put th key in I still hear the bell ring but once I turn it nothing happens. None of the lights turn on like it doesn't recognize it. What do you guys think?

We could use a little more information, but I'll work with that you've got.
The battery may be well past dead; to the point of not accepting a charge. There have been plenty of times where I've had enough juice for the radio, door chime, and even interior lights but the engine wouldn't even begin to try and turn over. Start simple, start smart- grab a new battery and see if anything changes.

I wouldn't go any farther than getting a new battery right now. I've killed my battery too many times, and it does this whenever its dead. Alternatively, if you picked up a charger, you could charge the battery and use it for jumping. I recently got this one: http://www.amazon.com/Schumacher-SC-100 ... B001MYWBF0

So you tried boosting it with another car??? Are you sure you have ALL the grounds attached, ie the main one the attaches to the top transmission bolt? Also make sure the white (10 gauge) primary wire to the starter solenoid is connected; located near the battery.

Yes I made sure grounds were connected. Even the one at the too of the transmission. I'm not qute sure I know which wire you're talking about that is located near the battery. Would that cause the key not even being recognized when I turn it?

As when I mean it doesn't recognize it I mean when I put the key in the chime sounds but when I turn it nothing turns on. The dash lights, the radio, nothing. Nothing happens.

Get a new battery like everyone says. Trying to jump a battery that has dead cells is pointless, it just draws too much power with way too much resistance.

Have you check fuses for nothing else working?

Ok guys I think I found the issue. My ignition fusible link keeps blowing. I replaced the battery. What wires would be causing this to happen?

I found the problem. When I put the engine in, the engine mount was placed on a wire and that wire was shorting out on the mount. I got it out, replaced the fusible link, and she started. Thanks for the help!
