Starting Problems

Problem starting after car being used for 4 or 5 short trips. Replaced starter, battery and tested coil ok. Just get click on the starter when it happens. Brought to mechanic but will not fail for him after starting 20 or 30 times. Any ideas?? I'm not very knowledgeable with cars. 1990 240SX SE.

Every once-in-a-while, mine fails to start too...I just turn the key off and try it again, most of the time it fires up fine the 2nd time. Haven't tried to replace anything yet, but I figure mine's probably the solenoid.

(Sorry, that may not help you too much, but I'd lke to know what other's think as well! )

i took out my ignition switch and i saw that there was a worn piece where the lockset engages the ignition switch. give it a try guy. if not try to hear if the click is coming from inside the car or under the hood and tell us about it.
