Hi everyone,I picked up an s14 today.

The previous owner told me about how sometimes it wont start when you turn the key, and you have to hold the key in the "start" position and then wiggle it around, then it starts.

Right when i got it, i couldnt start it, so i had him start it. I turned it off, and it didnt start, so i wiggled the key, and it started up like normal. Turned it off again, and it started normally.

The PO said he changed the ignition switch, and thinks its the starter.

Would a starter be causing these problems?

Also - do s13 ka24e starters fit the ka24de?I have a lot to learn....

Thanks,Zac

when you turn the key and you dont hear and clicking like its gonna start than it would be your starter or spark plugs

I had this kind of problem with my old Tercel before. For me it was my starter, it was no good. It could be many things...

Ok thanks..

I think its the starter because when it ran earlier it ran smooth and everything.

Hopefully its the starter, i should be picking one up tomorrow.

Yeah try this first.

If that doesn't work, go get a new starter.

Alright, i tapped it and then started it up like normal..

I drove to the gas station, put in gas, then it wouldnt start.

Tapped it again, and drove home.

At home, i turned it off twice and it started right up like it should.

My friend said its the starter solenoid, so im picking up a used starter for $45.

Ok, changed the starter, took me about 30 min-45 min, working slowly.

Seemed to have fixed it.

Thanks everyone!
