I've got a starting problem with a 90 model ka24e. Yesterday I cleaned out the throttle body with throttle body cleaner then took it for a little test drive and to get gas. It was on empty. A couple of days ago I noticed some hestitation so I thought the plate might just be sticking a little. On start up there was a little wait and some stumbling which usually happens until the cleaner is burnt off then it ran just fine. I never push it hard and was going about 45 when it just conks out. I figured it was the gas so I walked to a nearby station and got gas. Filled it and still no start. It was on a little incline so I though maybe it wasn't enough gas to the pickup to reach so I got another 4 gallons. Still no start. It turns over fine but just won't fire. I did check to see if gas was getting to it and gas was fine as far up as through the filter. It's not a pump problem. I also checked fuses at the box and switched two of them thinking it might be a faulty one to the coil but that didn't fix it. I don't think it's ecu either. Also checked the timing chain and it's not loose so I don't think it jumped time. The coil itself is less than a year old. What's left??? I'm thinking distributor gear maybe? Does the sohc have a crank sensor and would that cause it? Car is a dd so I really need to get it going again. Any help appreciated!!

check your fuel pump fuse, cap and rotor, spark plugs and wires. Try to get someone to help you push start it if none of these things work because it could be your temp. switch.

well..my daughter came with her 240 and pulled it with some heavy rope we had..never thought I'd actually USE the tow hooks. I have ordered cap and rotor and already changed the plugs today to NGK platinums. The cap and rotor won't be in until tomorrow morning . They did look an little burnt.I would not have thought to check the temp switch though. I had only driven about 1/2 a mile when it conked so it never had much of a chance to get warm even. I DO have a leak in the radiator but after I got it home I checked and it was almost full in the tank. Fuel pump is definitely working. I pulled the line from the top of the filter and had my wife turn to key . You could hear the pump run and it squirted a pretty strong stream of fuel. There's just NO spark. It turns and gives a half a**ed attempt (a little shudder)but won't catch.

the sensor i was talking about is this onehttp://www.autozone.com/N,1520...t.htm on a lot of nissans not too sure how many different kinds but i know for sure on the ka24e, nx2000 sr20de, if this sensor is out you cannot start your car and if you try to push start it will start but it would want to shut down. Also if this sensor is out you cannot even start your car weather it is warm or cold. The reasons why? I have no idea

I changed in the sensor from my daughter's 90 model and still no start. It looks an awful lot like I might have jumped timing even though the chains not too loose and I didn't hear any clanking or other noises before the collapse. Of course I hope it's NOT timing...I hate tearing a front end apart on a motor. Then again..I could change the radiator and change to electric fans while I have it apart. The parts for the distributor came in early so I just changed the cap and rotor...no effect. This is soooo frustrating....
