Sup guys, I just bought an 89 S13 Fastback with rebuilt KA24E. I live in Philly and went all the way to Virginia to buy it. Car ran fine on the way back, made some stops to go eat and it started just fine. But I let it sit for 2 days without starting it and I tried starting it today and something weird happened. The motor cranked and it seemed like it was about to start, then it started sputtering and shut off :wtf2: . I don't know what the problem could be so it would be nice if any one can help or point out what's wrong, thanks.

Sounds like you have a vaccum leak

Hmm, word. What would be an easy fix? Or how could I find where it's leaking? Thanks.

Follow all the vacuum lines and replace any cracked or old lines.

Make sure you're fuel pump is working first. Have somebody pot the car on the on position, while you take a screw driver pressed on top of the fuel pump "cap"on the passenger side in the trunk, and press your thumb on the handle of the screw drivet.then put your ear against your thumb. You're trying to hear the fuel pump prime when the key is on the "on" position. It should be loud enough and audible. If it's faint, then it probably failed. They don't give warnings that their gonna give out. I've had this problem twice. You might as well geta walbro since you're going to replace it!
Also check yur fuse. If it boew, chances are your fuel pump might have too
I hope u can understand what im trying to say to check it lol.

Good luck

i was having a similar problem turns out it needed a new alternator.
check battery voltage, check if it's being recharged.
should be 12.5 off (at least)when on around 13+.

Had the same problem but with a 350 small block and all i did was put a bigger battery in it and know don't have that problem. But would do want soryu said to do. And check the battery and the altonator out before tring to look for a vacuum leak and find out it is just a bad altonator but would still look at the vacuum hoses and replace all the ones that look old and cracked so you don't have to worry about having problems down the road with it.

Cool, well I just replaced most of the vacuum lines after discovering one of them completely rotted off, and after that started up just fine no problems, checked the fuel pump, heard it prime, and checked the battery and alternator and no problems at all! Thanks guys.

BUMP. Okay, so turns out there was more to my "starting problem." After replacing most of the vacuum lines, checking the fuel pump and what not, I decided to do my daily start-up. I put the key in the ignition and turned it to the on position and the wipers and warning lamps came on as usual. But when I went to start it, it cranked once and it like, died. After that, I turned the key and it just clicked, then afterwards, just one click  Then later today, I went to check it out again and this time, no clicks at all :ohno: I charged the battery real quick to see if the battery was bad and I let it sit for a couple minutes and then I turned the key to on and the warning lights came on, so I know the battery is good :werd: I have a feeling it's the starter... But I'm going to give it a full charge tomorrow after I charge the charger to see what the problem could be haha.

So if there is anything you guys would suggest that would solve my problem/s that WON'T clean my pockets out, please do so. I appreciate the help :dblthumb:
