Ok I have a starting problem that I cant fix. I have been trying for quit a while. never had this problem until I replaced my clutch. now I cant start the car with the key. every time I turn the key it doesnt do anything. sometimes it will click the soliniod and sometimes it will crank it over. I already replaced the starter. still does the same think. now pretty much every time I start my car I have to use a screw driver and jump the terminals on the starter. I did a volt check while the key was in the start position. I found that the bigger wire that connects to the starter has 12.4V going to it. and the smaller one only has 6.2V. now I am just guessing that is where my problem is at. the only thing is that the smaller wire goes into a big harness and I cant trace it. so if anybody knows where this wire goes. or just knows what my problem could be. please let me know. I have been working on this for the longest time its not even funny. so I am guessing that the low volts on the smaller wire is causing my problem. but I have no clue where that wire goes.

What year is your car? The smaller wire should be 12v+ so that narrows the problem.

for 1991-1994:

black wire with yellow stripe(measures 6.volts) small wire goes to interlockrelay. the interlock relay is by the battery. the relay will look different thanyour other relays. rectangular shape and bigger. the black wire withwhite stripe goes from interlock relay to ignition switch.(wire colours will vary). a brown wire with white stripe goes from interlock relay to interlockswitch on clutch pedal.

the clutch interlock switch is connected to ground. when you depressclutch you close the switch which allow ground to go to interlock relay. the relay is energized and closes(it now has ground and 12v+). the closed relayallows 12v+ to go to starter. look for loose connections. warn wire.

You have voltage drop in your starter solenoid trigger wire, you'll have to find were the voltage drop is at it may be in the relay itself. Try tapping the relay while someone else holds the key in the crank position (obviously when its not cranking) and see if it cranks up. You could also check to see what voltage is going into the relay from the ingnition switch should b 12v and then check whats coming out should also be 12v. Hope this helps.
