Hello I have a 1991 Nissan 240sx engine KA24DE. I have just finished installing a new engine in the car and now cannot get it started. If I poor fuel in the intake runner it will spudder like its gonna start and then cut off. I am now going back and checking the vacum lines as well as the fuel lines on the engine. Also the battery terminals were hooked up backwards when I got the car and fried the fuel relays, the 2 green ones. I replaced those.

Questions I needed answered.

Where do all the vacuum lines go that are under the intake ie. the yellow white red/ and then there are 2 lines that come from the left side of the car on the frame rail.

On the fuel rail were does each fuel lines go. ie. from the filter to the rail top port or bottom. and the return line top port or bottom

What mark do i use on the crank pulley to set the timing, as well as were does the distributer need to be set. Also in the engine firing order is it from front to back or is it back to front ie. front 1342 or from the back 1342 and will this make a difference on starting.

Lastl are there any relays other than the ones I replaced that would keep the car from starting.

you can email me back at gsldrby2003@yahoo or respond to this post

OK I just got off the phone with the dealer and he is trying to tell me that I cannot reset the timing myself because the computer needs to be programed prior to setting the timing. Is he trying to get me to spend money there or is there any truth to this.

ummm the battery terminals backwards thing is not good. you may have also smoked the ecm. go through all your fuses and make sure they are all still good. but if you fried the relays it is a very good chance you did some damage to the ecm.

well I got it started. Now there is another problem. The car idles fine at 1000 rpms. But when I drove the car less than a mile it was over heating as well as all the power started dropping. Also when I stopped the car the exhaust manifold was red as fire. what could it be. Also I did the conversion to electic fan and removed the belt driven fan. What would cause the exhaust manifold to turn beet red.

a restricted exhaust. Either your cat has had catastrophic melt down and is a large glob sitting in the cat housing or you have a baffle prob in the stock muffler
