Whats up guys? My name is Chris and im out of VA. I've got a 96' blacktop in my 89' fastback. I've had it since June and can't complain. Anyway I figured it would be fitting to start off with a problem. I just installed a Joe P. MBC and it feels like as I pull through the powerband the power just goes in and out. It's set now at 10psi. Any Ideas are welcome. Thanks!

sounds like the mbc is leaking a bit, do you have a boost gauge? Is the boost going up and down any psi though the power band?

It does lose boost but only from 10 to 9psi. and the gauge doesnt move according to the power. Like when the power seems to be in and out the gauge isn't moving, its holding strong. I figured since it was a small turbo(stock T25) that it wouldn't produce all the way to redline(maybe it's only at higher boost). Am I wrong? Is there any chance the computer is pulling/adding timing to correct something?

When I installed my joe p mbc, i noticed a little boost loss. It never held steady. I would set it for 12psi but I would never get it all the way through in each gear. For example, when I hit redline I would be near 10-11 psi. Next time I would of probably got a Greddy Profec.

Are you sure its not your wastegate?? Sometimes the stock ones dont hold boost well.

The wastegate...thats a possibility. I've never heard of that though. Soo...maybe the hks actuator would be the better way to go? All I really want right now is 10psi. I Dont have a front mount and it doesnt seem like its coming anytime soon(need suspension). Anybody have any expirience with the HKS part? Thanks

I have the HKS actuator and it works really well, My stock wastegate on my s14 turbo was leaking at 12psi and this actuator cleaned it up real nice. Easy to install too.

What does the HKS actuator set your baseline boost at?

I am not sure what it sets the baseline boost at. I know that it is adjustable, you might be able to set it at 10psi or lower if desired??

If it was the wastegate you would see the boost drop on the gauge. Stop complaining about variation of 1 psi due to the JoeP. It cost 25-40 bucks, compared to $200 or more for a profec b or similar. What do you expect, it to hold boost perfectly at its setting the whole time? I use it and my brother uses it and we're both happy with it. I get variation of + or - .5 psi, which is fine with me. You won't notice a power difference from something like that.

that is true, also the cold weather conditions can cause this to happen as well as the engine runs really well it wants to put out more power but the wastegate cannot keep up with this causing a spike and then a drop, usually only 1psi on low boost applications. I heard bad things about the profec B II i would just go with a HKS EVC4
