Starting issues!!!

Ok, So we went to the grocery store, came back started the pathy, she started fine, then died. we were low on gas so we assumed it was out. got more gas, and still doesnt start. think its not getting gas, fuel pump is running, just replaced fuel filter. still not starting. my dad says it may be the coil(?) , i do have an SES light but no way to get it to a scanner.

Check under the distributor cap for excessive dirt or dust build up and blow it out with compressed air if there is any. Also check for scorch marks.

i did. there was no dirt. the rotor(?) the white piece that makes contact with the cap was blackened on the tip. sanded it down (what guy at advance auto said to do) but to no avail.

sorry for the double post.. does anyone know if an ignition coil from a 95 3.0 v6 pathy (also found a 96 near me for parts) might would work in my 99? i know they're both r50s...

i've fixed the problem! replaced the ignition coil, ordered one off ebay. now starts flawlessly!
