Now before you all say SEARCH!I did, I went through about 15 threads all containing starting problems and none were specific to my situation.

well, a wile back I moved the TPS a notch to adjust the idle and just recently the only way to start up the car is by having the gas peddle pressed down all the way (WOT), if not the car will just keep on cranking over and never start.

I think if I just replace the TPS it should fix the starting problem wile keeping my idle normal.

But before I go replacing expensive parts and sensors with no hope on fixing my problems I want to see what you guys think?

Its kinda embarrassing when theres people around and you want to start your car and you have to wait a couple of seconds while your starter is screaming trying to make your car start. Help?

I have a 91' 240sx

Thanks

go to a junk yard and start getting sensors and stuff, its cheaper there, its almost sounds like a fuel issue but when u say about the starter screaming i know its a starter issue, how old is ur starter? maybe its time for a new one

I just removed and modified the manifold and not so long ago.The injectors looked good when I took the manifold offI put new fuel lines so they work perfectI got a new Z32 fuel filterAnd I saw the pump squirt a lot of fuel with good pressure

But it is a little bit more difficult to start it when the car is cold

I think the starter is still from factory, but it sounds normal and I can see and feel that it cranks fine.

Going to the junk yard and grabbing all those sensors doesnt sound all that bad... anything that fits in your pocket is free right

Thanks guys. ill replace some sensors and let you know what happens

I bought the car not so long ago (Maybe like 4-5 months) and ever since then the car it never really ran perfect. (But I dont drive it that much)It has a little little shaking/ stumbling and sometimes it knocks a lil bit

And ive noticed that the heads look like they were doneMaybe they didnt do everything right

So Ima check the timing and the cam timing today

If that doesnt cure it, ill head off to the junk yard and snag me some of those sensors

Thanks guys. Ill post up my results

im think maybe a knock sensor, u might have multiple problems. yeah grab a bunch of sensors from a junk yard, even if u dont need em now, its nice to have spares

i'd put your tps back to where it was before you messed with it. dont adjust your idle with your tps....just disconnect the connection before you adjust the idle. the idle is controlled by the screw attached to a sensor bolted to the bottom of the intake manifold. so that's what you want to adjust when you mess with the idle. and make sure your tps connections are nice and tight along with maybe seafoaming your engine. You may have crud in your idle air control valve. check your timing and replace your plugs after anyways...just to narrow out a bunch of cheap little fixes before you go replacing the tps. hell, i'd even be tempted to check all your vacuum hoses, leaky vacuum lines can lead to dozens of different problems....it just depends where its leaking from and how much of a leak it is. and when you say stumbling and it knocks a bit....could be coolant temp sensor throwing your timing off, knock sensor, distributor, plugs/wires. always start simple......and stop playiing with your tps so much, GOSH didn't your mom tell you if you play with it too much it'll fall off!!
