Starting issue

I have 91 hatch and when I drive a few miles and it gets warned up if I park it for to long it won't start up and stay running for a noir an hour or so. If it does start it sputters and dies when I hit the gas. Seems like it losing fuel pressure. I was going to replace fuel pump but wanted some other opinions

I'm having the exact same problem. I have checked just about everything except actually changing the fuel pump. Fuses, filter, ect. My fuel pump seems to be ok. I did read somewhere that the fuel pump could not be priming. I haven't went down that rabbit whole yet but hopefully its the problem. If you figure something out please let me know and good luck.
