my car is having a problem starting currently. I went to lunch back at my barracks and went back to the car to get back to work, car wouldnt start. stereo works, windows go up and down slowly, also so do the headlights(its a 91 240 with a sr) i go to turn the key and dont hear anything. i try again and hear the, what i believe to be the relay click on and nothing. again i try it and hear the key and what i think could be the starter try to engage and nothing. Im pretty sure its the battery though because i accidently left my fan on for about an hour and before that i left my stereo on(key falls out sometimes and the car was off so i thought when it just fell out it was off all the way but i was wrong haha) just wondering if you all have any other suggestions for me besides trying to jump start it. thanks in advance. btw i dont know alot about cars and am currently learning and soaking up as much as i can so if anyones in the north VA area around quantico or fredericksburg and wants to help me learn some more, if theyre doing a swap or some work and i can stand by and learn what your doing shoot me an email!

welcome to the 240 world then! haha constant problems,

with all of your accesories off and key out of the ing revove your negative terminal from the battery and run a test light or 12v bulb with some leads on them, one touching the batt terminal, on touching the neg batt cable, if the light lights up then you have a current draw somewhere.

just sounds to me like a faulty ing switch and a dead batt, good luck, hope this helps

sounds like your alternator isn't charging your battery. Or connection is loose somewhere. I would go get it tested at a local autozone then go from there.

Ill go check on all of this once I get back from work. Im going to try jumping it first though and see how it goes... I just picked up my first 240 about 2 weeks ago haha maybe I should find someone to go through it with me and do some preventive maintenance and all that good stuff. Just need to find someone willing to take the time to go through it with me haha. Anyways thanks for the advice so far guys, def gunna check it out when I can get back to the barracks.

Also, SullivanRacing, I am curious as why you think it could be a faulty ing switch AND a dead battery, Im thinking more along the lines of just a dead battery right now, well not quite dead but near it haha. Not trying to sound like a d!ck, just trying to learn why you think its that and gain some knowledge

So I got it figured out. it was a combination of my battery being drained I guess and my starter missing a bolt and not being lined up properly, gunna call nissan tomorrow and get the right bolts for it. thanks for the help guys.
