Edit: Does someone have an S1 RB25DET ecu laying around that I could perhaps borrow?

Hello Nico members,I have a S1 RB25 that needs some assistance. It has just been rebuilt and my first time starting it up and officially being out of the NRRBA was as of 3 weeks ago. What a day that was... Anyways, since then, I changed out the water pump because it was leaking. Along with that change, I also replaced my timing belt. All of these were oem replacements. OK, since than I have yet to start it up again; back to NRRBA... Here is what I have tested so far:

- Timing belt, I've checked it with the crank at TDC and lined up with the oil pump. The EX and IN cams are lined up w/ the back plate. I also counted the number of tooths between each mark. - Compression, (Cylinders 1-6 across) 143 145 145 150 138 145- I don't know if this helps, but fuel pressure with engine off is at 32 psi. - CAS, it is functioning properly; injectors do pulse and there is sign of spark when CAS is rotated counter-clockwise. The key off the EX is broken, but i've checked to see if the CAS was placed in correctly many times. *Spark - I've checked all (6) spark plugs and they all have spark. *Fuel Injectors - They do open up and fuel is sprayed. - IGN and ECCS relays, they do click when the key is turned on.

Well, I have all the three things that an engine needs to fire up: air, spark, and fuel. It's almost spring break so I have some time to work on the car. I would appreciate it if you guys could help me along the way towards solving this starting issue. Your time and assistance is much appreciated. Thank You

Whats the issue? From what I read you haven't tried to start it up again.

Please disconnect your igniter or remove your plugs before spinning your cas with fresh possible gas in the cylinders, that could cause some blow by on your piston rings.... Not sure why you even spun it if your car ran just before you removed the timing belt and water pump.

If thats all you removed and touched I see no reason for the car not to start when you try again.

Hey thanks for the reply Shocker. I have tried to start up the engine but it is still not starting. The reason why I was spinning the CAS was to test to see if I had spark. "If thats all you removed and touched I see no reason for the car not to start when you try again." You would figure it would start right back up right?... I'm still dumb founded on why it isnt.

My issue is that my car is not firing up after I have replaced my water pump and my timing belt.

My battery is fully charged, I checked on my fuses. Are there any other relays that tie into the engine ignition? What else should I be checking?

Does someone have an S1 RB25DET ecu laying around that I could perhaps borrow?

does it respond to starting fluid? if so, how strongly? it does turn over and over right? or no turning at all??

either way, double check all the wiring plugs and sensor that you may have had to unplug during the maintenance...I have learned that even if "the car should atleast run without that sensor" sometimes they won't or it may just be that it could make it increddddibly difficult to start....

Also, when my could't start in the past: I had my plugs overgapped (should be at .8mm which is .031 inches or so) and one time I even put my fuel lines backwards on the rail...silly huh..

you've got my curiosity on this one too...

Hey TJ, I have not tried it with starting fluid yet, but I will. I'll update you once I do. The engine turns over and over again, but does not fire up. I'll go through each plug and sensor again and recheck the spark plug gap. lol, I also checked the fuel lines and they are fine. Feed on the bottom and return on top right. Thanks for your input again TJ, appreciate it.

Alright, time to fill you guys in on some more information. I tried starting the engine with starter fluid today and had no luck. As I was cranking though, I noticed air being pushed back out the intake as I cranked the engine. So this helps me a lot to figure out why?

Note: after I had replaced my water pump and timing belt, the car did start up but then died out after 10 seconds or so. It started up strongly and dies out. Now, it does not start at all after I held the rev at 2k RPM through those 10 seconds to test my IACV. It died instantly.

Ever since then, my car has yet to start up after I was trying to figure out why it died. Now, I'm getting air coming back out the intake throttle. Any thoughts on this? Could it be a bad ecu?
