me and some of my friends are talking about opening a garage to work on our cars. all it will be needed for is doing bolt-ons and the occasional sr swap. anyway, what tools do we need to get started, we are trying to come up with a price figure, and need to know what all the necessary's are. thx for the help. and please don't flame me, this is a legitimate thing.

You aren't trying to work on other people's cars, just your own right? Well, its gonna be expensive. I'm sure if you all pooled all your current tools together and shared the price of the new tools you will need then it wouldnt be quite as bad. But you won't know what specialty tools youll need until you need them. Who knows what kind of work youll be doing. Obviously you'l need all the basic hand tools and basic automotive tools. The one thing I would recommend more than anything is a good sized air compressor and a set of air tools. They are invaluable.

I worked at a dealership for a while, a good 4 point lift is a god send....they're expensive, but hell you can actually put leverage on a wrench and get at places that are difficult when your under a car on the ground. A word of advice though, dont get on of those lifts that you drive into, then you can to break and wheel work..
